Product Description
Cold Steel Urban Utility Knife w/Spear Point Blade Md: 43LS, The Urban Pal should be standard equipment for survival in todays urban jungle. At 3/4 of an ounce, it is perfectly at home in a pocket or purse and can be easily attached to a key ring, or hung around the neck. With a 1 1/2" long blade, it is big enough to get the job done and its unique handle allows you to really put your weight into its point or edge. The Urban dart blade represents a huge advance for Cold Steel in knife making technology. The simple teardrop shaped Kraton handle is small and thin. It gives extra traction to the fingers and protects the palm when the knife is used like a push knife or when using palm reinforced grip styles., Type: Fixed Blade Type: Spear Point Blade Length: 1 1/2" Length: 3 1/8" Steel: 420 Stainless Handle Material: Kraton Weight: .7 oz. Sheath: Secure-Ex Edge Type: Serrated Closed Length: , Manufacturer: COLD STEEL, Model: 43LS

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME   August 30, 2010

I just received this little knife and have to say I really like it.It fits tightly in its sheath and is very sharp and sturdy. There are three holes down each side to give many ways to carry. It also came with a keyring for key chain carry.

It is handy to have around and it's really cool. I like it a lot. Hoping I'll never have to use it for anything

3 out of 5 stars Removes from sheath too easily   May 4, 2010

The knife is extremely sharp and the form factor at first feels right as a key chain knife.

The major problem is that the handle just gets snagged too easily. I've found the knife sitting open in my pocket many times. Luckily I have yet to get poked with it. But I have also found it sitting on the back floor of my car after doing some task while I have my keys in my hand. I don't know if it gets snagged on something or just falls out. Either way, it's not noticeable when it happens. Having a toddler, it concerns me that this thing comes unsheathed and falls to the floor in places I just don't want it to be at.

This knife is exactly what it says it is. The serrated blade wasn't as sharp as some of the reviews stated, it is pretty much as sharp as any steak knife you would buy at Walmart. For the $16 price tag you can't complain as your getting a pretty cool little knife. It was definitely worth the purchase.

They market this knife as a utility knife and if that is what your looking for this is not the knife for you. Yes this knife can be used in many ways as can any knife but this knifes main design is for self defense, as the handle is meant to slip in between your fingers. Using this knife to cut anything is uncomfortable and cutting anything hard can be a bit painful as the handle will pinch your fingers

The key chain sheath is impractical as the blade is only locked in by friction. When taking the knife out and putting it back in you can see the plastic pieces forming the sheath separate a bit from the seam, after time this is going to loosen enough to where it could just fall out. It would be nice if this knife came with a sheath with a belt clip or safety strap locking the blade in. If your looking for a key chain knife go with a Swiss Army model. This knife is better suited for the pocket or a pocket book.

I personally went out and bought a clip and attached it to the sheath so I can wear it on a belt. I use it for safety when hiking with my dogs and having it on my belt makes it easier to access if I ever need it.

If your looking for a knife with a sheath with a belt clip Cold Steal does make a double edged blade slightly bigger than this one. It costs $50 plus and seems like a great defensive tool but check your State laws before you purchase. I found it is illegal in some States such as my State to own double sided blades or daggers.

This is a great knife, I would of given it a 5 star review but I found the sheath to be a bit clumsy without a belt clip.

All knives have a purpose. The purposes of a knife are mostly limited by their size... but THIS knife's usefulness is extremely disproportionate to its size! Hardly an inch and a half blade length, this little knife will tackle every day to day task you throw at it, whether you're just opening letters, or you're cutting cordage. Because it's a pushblade, you can put your full weight into the knife without slippage a LOT more than a standard folder, making this 1.5 inch knife often perform like a 3 or more inch knife in many tasks.

One thing I found particularly useful about this, is that being a pushblade, you can perform other tasks while not releasing your cutting tool. GREAT for if you're cutting open large numbers of boxes. You can cut a box, open it, cut another, open, cut, open, etc without ever releasing your cutting tool.

Self defense? Well I've never used it as such, and hope I never will, but I can certainly see the good in this. This knife cannot be disarmed or knocked out of the hand easily, it has a super fast draw, it's very "natural" to use (Punching is more natural than slashing), and it's legal in many places.

This knife can be laced into your boots, hung around your neck, placed in your pocket, hooked to your keyring, and more... So there's never an excuse to be without it!
